Course Description

The paramedic program offered by MCI is based on the curriculum set forth by the United States Department of Transportation. This 1136 hour program uses 3 objectives for teaching; Cognitive, Affective, Psychomotor. The student must successfully pass each phase of the Paramedic program, which covers, didactic, hands on training, hospital rotations, and field internship. The following objectives have been established for the EMS Department of MCI concerning the Paramedic Program. The Paramedic course is a diploma program. After successful completion of the program requirements set forth by MCI the student may be eligible to sit for the state licensure exam. COURSE REQUIREMENT

 
1.  Complete the EMT basic entrance exam

2.  Licensed EMT in the state of Florida or is has successfully passed the

3.  EMT course and is waiting to take the State Of Florida exam

4.  Student must be EMT state certified by midterm or they will be removed from the 
     program until state certified.

5.  HS diploma or GED equivalent

6.  At least 18 years of age for national and state licensure.
     If under the age of 18 a parent or guardian is needed for consent.

7.  CPR certified by AHA healthcare provider or state approved CPR provider

8.  Complete an application

9.  Pay the $150.00 non-refundable fee.

10.  Bring a completed physical form from a state of Florida licensed physician, and it 
       must state that you are in good physical health to participate in the program.

11.  Proof of all vaccinations (MMR, PPD, or Hepatitis B) including an updated tetanus shot.

12.  Show proof of a current flu shot if applicable or sign refusal waiver.

13.  PPD must be less than 12 months old. If tested positive in the past a chest x-ray 
       is needed.

14.  Proof of citizenship or residency.

15.  Pay all financial obligations, or have been approved for a career loan.

16.  Complete and sign an enrollment agreement.
