MCI now offers the AHA online skills testing portion. Students may go to www.heart.org and complete the following courses online at your own pace then contact MCI to schedule an appointment for the skills portion.


BLS for Healthcare Providers Online Part 1
BLS for Healthcare Providers Part 1 - $50.00

This course from the American Heart Association has been updated to reflect new science based on the 2010 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC.

  • Students will learn single-rescuer and team basic life support for adults, children and infants through 5 interactive exercises, scenarios and a written test. Navigation controls allow students to move easily through content as they learn how to recognize life-threatening emergencies, provide high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilation and provide early use of an AED. Course also teaches relief of choking.

    This self-paced course is accessible anytime from any computer. Students can access the BLS for Healthcare Providers Student Manual, BLS Pocket Reference Card and more for 24 months.

    This course may be used for initial or renewal BLS for Healthcare Providers Course completion.

Heartcode ACLS Part  I
Heartcode for ACLS Part 1 - $130.00

This course from the American Heart Association has been updated to reflect new science based on the 2010 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC.

  • HeartCode® ACLS is an official, self-directed, comprehensive eLearning program from the American Heart Association (AHA). HeartCode® ACLS Part 1 uses eSimulation technology to present realistic patient scenarios. Students are presented with a team dynamics lesson, 10 ACLS hospital-based case scenarios, and a written exam. While interacting with the program, students assess each patient, formulate a treatment plan based on ACLS guidelines, and provide treatment. Successful completion of Part 1, the cognitive component, and Parts 2 and 3, skills practice and testing with an AHA ACLS Instructor or a voice-assisted manikin (VAM) system, meets the requirements for obtaining an AHA ACLS Provider course completion card.

    At the conclusion, participants should be able to:

    1. Recognize and initiate early management of periarrest conditions that may result in cardiac arrest or complicate resuscitation outcome
    2. Demonstrate proficiency in providing BLS care, including prioritizing chest compressions and integrating automated external defibrillator (AED) use
    3. Recognize and manage respiratory arrest
    4. Recognize and manage cardiac arrest until termination of resuscitation or transfer of care, including immediate post–cardiac arrest care
    5. Recognize and initiate early management of acute coronary syndromes, including appropriate disposition
    6. Recognize and initiate early management of stroke, including appropriate disposition
    7. Demonstrate effective communication as a member or leader of a resuscitation team and recognize the impact of team dynamics on overall team performance

    This course offers continuing education credits for physicians (ACCME/AMA), nurses (ANCC), pharmacists (ACPE), and EMS Practitioners (CECBEMS).

Heartcode for PALS Part 1
Heartcode for PALS Part 1 - $120.00

       

    Updated to reflect science in the 2010 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC, HeartCode® PALS Part 1 is a web-based, self-directed program that teaches healthcare providers knowledge and skills needed to recognize and prevent cardiopulmonary arrest in infants and children. Using eSimulation technology, students assess and treat patients in virtual healthcare settings where they can apply their knowledge to real-time decision-making and skills development. Debriefings and coaching are provided immediately after each simulation to facilitate learning about pediatric advanced life support.

    After completing HeartCode PALS Part 1, students must successfully complete a hands-on skills practice and testing session (parts 2 and 3) with an AHA PALS Instructor. Students will receive an AHA PALS course completion card, valid for two years, upon successful completion of all three parts.

    This course has been tested on Windows XP and Mac OSX, with Internet Explorer 8+ or Firefox 2+. Please do not use the Internet Explorer 10 browser with this course. HeartCode programs are not supported by Apple Safari.

 


Students not wishing to complete the above AHA courses online may opt to take the courses at the institute on the dates listed below. Please be advised that ALL in class courses for the AHA or subject to change.
